Resolution + picture quality

  • What is meant by resolution?

    Definition

The respective resolution refers to the number of pixels in relation to a physical unit of length (e.g. given in dpi, dots per inch; ppi, pixels per inch; lpi, lines per inch). It is also known as dot, pixel or line density. Alternatively, the dimensions of a pixel (length of the edge, diameter or surface area) can be quoted (e.g. in micrometres)
